You have had a long day at work. You get home with 5 minutes to change before you have to go pick up the kids at basketball practice or run to a friend’s for a casual dinner. You look in your closet and panic. There are lots of clothes but no go-to comfy but nice looking outfits. You don’t want to stay in your work clothes and can’t put on your pj’s yet (even if your friend would think it’s adorable) so you grab the first thing that is handy—probably black and often related to workout clothes—and head out the door. If it’s cool enough outside you throw your coat over it and hope no one notices.
What fun is that?
And, more importantly, does it make you smile and feel good about how you look?
I doubt it.
I hear this from women all the time. Leah, for instance, was feeling beyond discouraged and frustrated. Here’s what she said about her recent transformation:
“I never dreamed I could feel so much better in clothes meant… just for me. This is such a far cry from a woman whose mother shopped for her in high school, and twin sister thereafter…then taking to wearing my teenage sons clothes! I seriously cannot wait to get dressed today.”
If the scenario I first described sounds like a page out of your daily life, then here’s a little inspiration. I recently appeared on TV talking about how to add some style to your comfortable clothes. It’s a quick 6-minute video full of lots of ideas.
Sometimes all it takes a quick aha moment to add a new spark to your casual clothes. And, if you missed my blog post last year on the same topic, you can see it HERE and feel even more inspired!
