Wow! It is very clear that many people are now enjoying getting dressed up for special events and want to celebrate in style. This past year I have helped more women get ready for dressy events than in the previous three years combined!
What about you?
Are you planning to attend a wedding, holiday party or some other special occasion? And, if so, do you know what you’re going to wear?
If, like so many people, you’ve spent the past few years living in yoga pants and workout clothes, it’s easy to forget that sometimes there are occasions to dress up. And, if you don’t know what to wear, it’s easy to put it off until the invitation arrives or even wait until a few days before to figure it out! Or worse…decline the invitation!
But, as many of us know, from past unpleasant experiences, waiting until you’re invited doesn’t always leave you enough time to find exactly what you need or want to wear. The last thing you want to do is settle for good enough instead of feeling fabulous about what you’re going to wear.
Not to mention that since comfort now continues to be the driving factor when making clothing choices, the thought of dressing up can feel daunting. Images of restrictive clothing, uncomfortable shoes and (yikes!) shape wear float through your head!
I’d like to put your mind at ease!
I was recently approached by Connected Apparel (https://connectedapparel.com/) and gifted a couple of dresses to share with you. Many companies have reached out, but I’ll never share something I don’t like. But I’ve seen Connected Apparel dresses before and I’ve liked what I’ve seen so I said YES.
I LOVE these two dresses for so many reasons:
Connected Apparel has…
- Dresses and jumpsuits for events from simple get-togethers to formal dressy events.
- Styles that work beautifully for so many body shapes and lots of curves.
- Clothing sizes 4 to 24.
- A lovely variety of colors.
- A very reasonable shipping and return/exchange policy.
- Very reasonable price points and the quality is nice.
- Comfort built into every item. Both dresses I’m going to show you are unbelievably comfy!
Take a look at the first ‘Meryl’ dress in this stunning color with a universally flattering neckline that leaves room to add a beautiful necklace:

And, if you want to see a video of me wearing the dress so you can see how it moves, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2n74kaY7PSw
There are only a few sizes left of the ‘Meryl’ dress, but there are lots of other beautiful options that are similar and they introduce new colors and designs regularly.
The second dress is the ‘Mari’ and I absolutely could not resist this gorgeous gown. It feels amazing on and, again, glides easily over curves. Grab it before it sells out or check out all the other beautiful designs.

One of the things I enjoy about the gold gown is that yes, you can add a wrap in a matching gold or even black, BUT, as you can see, you can add a simple wrap in one of your most stunning colors (as I did). Imagine a beautiful teal, red or deep plum, for example. This adds a pop of color and makes the outfit even more striking. (The 1-minute video of me describing and wearing the dress will be on my YouTube channel later today.)
The most important thing about dressing for a special event is to plan ahead! Fancier clothes don’t go out of style as quickly and so you can start now and be prepared. This takes the pressure off when the invitation arrives in your inbox.
Another reason to shop now (even if you don’t have an upcoming event) is that these days clothing sells out really fast and finding the perfect dressy outfit isn’t always as straightforward as it should be. It’s one of the reasons I am delighted to have found this brand. They do sell some of their dresses at Nordstrom in all sizes as well (here’s one example: https://bit.ly/3CWyufs), but the larger selection is on their site: https://connectedapparel.com/.
Have fun exploring what they have and imagine how nice it will be to feel ready when the next invitation arrives. And, if right now you don’t have anywhere to wear it…as they say, ‘If you build it, they will come!’
